Torsion spring system is more common because it is very heavy duty spring which can bear tons of stress easily. This spring system is used for heavier doors and it is also expensive and dangerous in nature. You need to install special extension wires with these springs to make sure that they do not do any damage upon breakage. Extension springs are second type of springs which are used for less heavy garage door. These are economical and less dangerous and you can install and replace them at your own.
