know you rights…when having a baby
Reference September 16th. 2009, 11:10amI work in an office for a paper company outside Philadelphia, PA. Last week, I told my boss that I was pregnant and my doctor ordered me to stay home because I was having some complications. My bosses, reaction was to suggest that if I left work I would likely not have a job after a baby. I ran the issue by a Philadelphia discrimination attorney who informed me of my rights. The labor laws state that you cannot discriminate against someone who is having a baby. When my boss learned of the law he changed his tune. Now, I get the required time off and I have job security after I have my baby.
